great yarn, drab colors

I used this for the Molly Waffle Blanket by TLYarncrafts during the Crochet Academy 2024 Crochet Along. This is the second type of yarn that I have purchased from Lion Brand which had disappointing colors. The yarn itself is LOVELY. Works up fast and easy, lovely luxe feel and texture, etc. So I'd be buying more BUT the colors are DRAB. While the colors on the swatches were fairly neutral they did appear to be colorful. For example the magic hour color is NOT a sapphire blue with a bit of heathery grey. It is a charcoal grey that has barely any blue tint. Juniper is a yellow toned forest green, almost a dark camo-green color, not a blue toned green. And ozone which looks like white with an almost powder blue on my computer screen is not even remotely light blue, it is a light grey. So if you are going for earthy naturals and greys, dive in. You'll love this yarn. But if you wanted a soft COLOR, skip it until the swatches are more representative of the actual colors. This might be an issue with my monitor but if so then it is all three monitors in my house AND it happened with the Pound of Love yarn too - all tones I purchased were more grey than the swatches. I will be giving this blanket away because it is too dark and grey for my house.

Hue+Me #5 Bulky yarn & Molly Waffle Blanket - TLYarncraft pattern

I worked up the Molly Waffle Blanket by TLYarncrafts during the Crochet Academy 2024 Crochet Along. I am making this blanket for a high school graduation gift in 2025. This yard is very soft and easy to work with. I am using the colors #099U - Desert, #1581 - Mustard, and 151Z - Smoke. This is my first time working with a bulky weight yarn and I was a bit surprised how how much yarn it would actually take for the pattern. Plus, I am increasing the length of the blanket as it will be used by someone who is over 6' tall. Boy! is this a yarn eater! I don't mind as I know that the recipient will love it.
