Not what I'd hoped

The pattern looks adorable, but but but....first, the sizing is kind of imaginary. I made a M and worked to gauge, but foolishly didn't check all the specs until after making it, and the measurements are...not M measurements (34" total chest measurement for a M? That's one skimpy vest!). So if you want to make this piece, check allll the measurements first and expect to size up at least 1 size for a realistic fit. Next: I just wish the pattern guidance was better. I'm an experienced crocheter so I was able to figure it out, but really, another editorial pass at the instructions to organize them better would be a kindness (like, put the measurement guidance on the chart). Finally: the whole piece just feels unbalanced--the hood is very big relative to the fit of the garment to the body (so: big wide hood, narrow vest, especially at the hips). It may work better in the larger sizes generally, but whew, that hood will end up really big too. YMMV of course.

I've been looking for a nice vest that is simple but looks great. I am going to enjoy working with pound of love again, except the yarn barf when the skein is 1st started. Maybe put a tag at then end with the end on the outside??? Otherwise, this will be a great garment. Can't go wrong with a Life and Yarn pattern!
