Crochet Kit - Love Triangles Afghan

I ordered the kit, minus the hooks and needles. I switched the taupe color to dusty blue. The blue yarn is not exactly the same thickness as the other colors, however, the shade is just right. I have only crocheted a portion of the afghan, but I already have major issues with the pattern. To begin with, it does not describe how to begin the foundation row. (Row 1 instructs to work 109 foundation dc - I've never started a project like this without a foundation row of chains. This was confusing). Secondly, it would have been helpful to have a description of how to carry multiple colors of yarn throughout the project without having to cut each time one changes colors, Thirdly, I found an error in Row 18: one color (DGH) was omitted from the instructions. There may be more errors as I go, but I will likely be able to correct them. I'm now on row 27 and have confidence that the work will turn out nicely, but would have liked clearer, more detailed, explanations - especially since the skill level is indicated as EASY!
