Winter Night Afghan

GAUGE: 12 sts = 4 inches (10 cm); each square measures 8 inches x 8 inches. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

AFGHAN (made up of 35 squares) SQUARE Using MC, cast on 24 sts. Work in garter-st (k every row) for 5 inches. Change to CC and work for 3 inches more. Bind off.  FINISHING
Sew squares tog invisibly as per ASSEMBLY DIAGRAM below. BORDER
With MC, attach yarn at upper right corner. With RS facing, pick up and k 121 sts along top edge. Next Row Work in garter st, inc 1 st each end of row. Following Row Work even. Bind off on next row, inc 1 st at beg and end of row. Work bottom edge to correspond. Along side edge, pick up and k 168 sts. Work as for top border. Work other side to correspond. Sew corners invisibly. |

| Very quick, I did make a change in the finishing. I crochted a single chain around edge for the finishing. This is just easier for me. Would recommend this pattern. I work F/T and did 2 in the evening - took less then 3 weeks to complete.
