GAUGE:

14 sts + 15 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in pattern stitch. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

Reviewed by Caroline Maddens on 2013-03-26 ****
I made this for a co-workers first grandchild. I used Pound of Love acrylic yarn in Pastel Blue and extended the pattern chaining 104 stitches and working until the blanket was a square. The scallops fit well with my pattern extension on three sides, the last scallop was a bit off but not noticeably so. Some reviewers having issues with the edge scallops not laying flat probably were interpreting the pattern wrong as I was on my first attempt to compete the edging. The way it's written is confusing, but once you get it right you'll know, it'll look like the sample picture.
