GAUGE:

13 sts + 18.75 rows = 4" (10 cm) in seed stitch.

BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

M1 (make 1) An increase worked by lifting horizontal thread lying between needles and placing onto left needle. Work this new stitch through the back loop.

Rows 1, 5, 7, and 9 (RS) P 2, k 8, p 2.

Row 3 P 2, slip next 4 sts to cn and hold in front, k 4, k 4 from cn, p 2
Repeat Rows 1-10 for pattern

Cast on 117 (135) sts. Work in Seed  St for 15 rows.

*Seed st over 9 sts, k into front and back of next st, p 3, M1, p 4, k into front and back of  next st, rep from *, end Seed St over last 9 sts ñ 135 (156) sts.

Work patterns as follows * Seed st over 9 sts, cable over 12 sts, rep from *, end Seed St
over last 9 sts. Continue working seed st as established and rep Cable Rows 1-10, until
Afghan measures approximately 57 (64)", ending with an even-numbered row.

Dec row *Seed st over 9 sts, p 1, k 1, p2tog, k 1, p 1, k 2tog, p 1, k 1, p2tog, rep from *, end Seed St over last 9 sts. Continue in Seed St for 15 rows. Bind off in pattern.
