Pattern:

Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 and 23 (WS) Knit. 
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 P4, k4. 
Rows 12 and 24 Sl 4 sts to cn and hold to back, k4, k4 from cn. 
Rows 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 K4, p4. 
Rep rows 1–24.

Note: this is a generic pattern for creating this cable. For a single cable it would be 8 stitches. In the example shown, there is one repeat of the stitch with 12 stitches are on either side, so you'd need to cast on 32 (12 + 8 + 12) stitches and knit 12 stitches before and after the pattern.
